Tuning for K5 GT-Line

Hi everyone,

I’m curious if it’s possible to customize the tune on a GT-Line to achieve specific effects like burble or flame tunes. Currently, the only option available seems to be the JB4 tune, which mainly improves power and fuel efficiency without affecting the sound.

I’ve heard tuning newer cars can be more challenging because of their design, but I’m not sure if that’s accurate. If anyone knows of any local tuning shops in northern NJ, please let me know!

If you’re looking for more noise, consider the new Borla full exhaust kit—it has some nice pops and gurgles. Combine that with the JB4 tune, a K&N cold air intake kit, and a blow-off valve for a great setup.

I have a JB4, a K&N cold air intake, and a muffler delete. It sounds great with some nice burbles and hasn’t caused any issues so far.

Tork Motorsports’ ECU is similar to SXTH Elements but with enhancements. They also offer a standalone ECU for Kia/Hyundai models, though it’s quite pricey.

You’re in luck—SXTH, LAP3, and N75 have recently unlocked the 1.6T Smart Stream ECU, making tuning possible for your car.

Each option varies in cost and process: SXTH is the most expensive as it requires their EK1, while LAP3 and N75 are cheaper but may need a spare ECU or require you to send in your ECU.

Full bolt-on setups (FBO) can reach mid to high 200HP, but tuners are still refining their tunes. The beta versions were released around August 1st, including the SXTH one.
