Thoughts on the 2020 Kia Optima

I’ve come across several recent models at good prices. What do you all think about their reliability?

Stay away from any Kia made from 2016 to 2021, just not worth the trouble.

No one wants to deal with the risks of theft. These models are super easy to steal since they don’t have immobilizers, making them all targets. Someone might just break a window or damage the steering column during an attempted theft, or you could lose the whole car. Plus, insurance might be pricey or hard to get.

What if it has an immobilizer? What if I use a steering wheel lock?

Even with security measures, nothing will stop someone from breaking into the car. They see Kias and Hyundais as easy targets. Just check this forum for stories from people who didn’t lose their car but still ended up with broken windows and damaged steering columns.

Definitely not worth the trouble.

Terrible choice. Kia Optimas have engine recalls. They tend to burn oil and might fail before 100,000 miles.

Kias are loved by many, especially car thieves.

My insurance doubled because of the Kia issues. There’s a class action lawsuit happening.

If you’re in Canada, you should be fine.

Mine was stolen… so I totally do not recommend getting one lol.
