How good are Kia Optimas for the long run?

A close friend had an Optima SX. After 20,000 miles, the navigation stopped working, and the radio started acting up. She sold it for $9,000 back in 2015 and got a Genesis instead.

I have a 2012 SX with 60,000 miles. The only issue I’ve had is the backup camera going black a couple of months ago. Kia replaced it for $100, and the price included an oil change and tire rotation.

I’ve got a 2012 Optima Hybrid with 115,000 miles. The engine’s original and works fine, but I need to handle a recall soon. When I slightly turn the steering wheel to the left, it makes a strange noise. Kia has identified it as a recall issue, so I’ll take it in soon.

I drive a 2013 EX with almost 136,000 miles. I do all the maintenance myself with OEM parts and trust a dealership for routine checks. Mechanically, it’s been problem-free, but the paint is terrible. I even had the front repainted, and it still chips easily. I’m planning to wrap it instead.

Edit: Bought it new with 8 miles on it and just finished paying it off this year.

@Arlen
The paint on this model is really weak, I agree! Congrats on getting it to 136k—that’s impressive!

I have a 2015 LX with 65,000 miles, and it’s been trouble-free so far.

How much did you pay for it, and what mileage was it at? I’m thinking of buying one soon.
