What’s your opinion on the 2020 Kia Optima?

I’ve noticed that some recent models are priced pretty well. What do you all think about how reliable they are?

It’s popular with car thieves. I’d avoid any Kia from 2016-2021. Too risky.

The theft problem is a big issue. These models are super easy to steal without immobilizers. Even if no one gets away with your car, you could end up with broken windows or a wrecked steering column. Insurance is also a problem—either it’s super expensive, or they won’t cover it.

What about cars with immobilizers? If I use a steering wheel lock, would that help?

A lock won’t stop someone from breaking in. Thieves target these cars because they’re easy, and damage can happen even if they fail. Check out posts from people who’ve dealt with smashed windows and broken steering columns.

Not worth the hassle.

Terrible choice. The engines on Kia Optimas have major recall issues. They burn oil and often fail before hitting 100,000 miles.

Kias are really popular… with car thieves.

My insurance rates doubled because of the theft problem. There’s a class action lawsuit starting.

If you live in Canada, it’s probably fine.

Mine got stolen, so yeah, I’d say don’t get one.
