I rented a Toyota Camry for the weekend and found it to be much quieter during acceleration compared to my Kia K5. My K5 feels more like a sports car with a loud roar when I accelerate. I’d prefer it to be quieter, similar to the Camry, as I’m a senior citizen and appreciate a calm environment. Do you think this is an issue with my specific car or just a characteristic of the Kia K5?

I understand that the K5 features something called “Active Sound Design,” which mimics the sound of a roaring engine by channeling artificial engine noise through the vehicle’s cabin speakers. I believe this can be disabled in the settings.
I don’t own a K5; I’m just very interested in them. If anyone can confirm this, I would appreciate it.

What year is it? I’ve had my 2025 model for a couple of months, and I’m almost certain there are transmission problems already. If it has low mileage, I would recommend getting it checked out.

Yes, mine was experiencing the same issue until I changed the oil, and now it shifts much more smoothly. I used to think, “Calm down, K5; it’s just 1st gear!” But now, after the oil change, it doesn’t happen anymore.

Hold on. I just bought a brand new 2025 EX with only 20 miles on it, and it’s extremely loud. Are you saying I need an oil change already? If that’s the case, come on, Kia. You need to improve!
