Can I update the software on my 2016 Kia Optima

You can just download Kia’s update software and choose your model year, vehicle, and trim. You can find the software here. Just make sure to have a flash drive on hand.

@Campbell
That update is only for cars with Navigation.

You’re right. I remember updating a Telluride before.

Yes, you can. Just download the update file onto a USB drive and plug it into your car.

Search for the file online and check your car’s owner manual for instructions.

Car WiFi and CarPlay or Android Auto WiFi are not the same things.

After using an adapter for wireless Apple CarPlay, I’m sticking to wired connections. There’s a noticeable 4-5 second delay between actions, which is really frustrating.

@Fraser
I hope Apple offers us a proper option once they remove the charging port.

Exactly! If it could deliver performance similar to the wired connection, I would definitely pay more for it.

How do I do that? Can I handle it myself?
If I make the update, will my Bluetooth connect by default?

No, it won’t connect via Bluetooth by default.

Search online. That’s how I’ve updated all my cars.

You can only do that yourself with models from 2017 and newer. I tried updating my 2011 Sportage with the navigation package and had to purchase a $35 USB from Kia to get the software.

@Frankie
Where did you buy the USB?

Is this for Microsoft UVO? I’m curious about this for my 2015 Kia as well, but haven’t found much info.

Yes, this is for Microsoft UVO. You can check for the eServices button on the head unit to confirm.

Which country are you in? Something seems off.
